The Private Schools Management Association (PSMA) has just released a statement saying that due to extreme pressure from parents to extend winter vacations as the cold wave continues to hit Karachi. The association has mentioned that school holidays could be given from today onwards due to force from parents. The chairman also added that parents are finding it highly difficult to send children to school early in the morning in this chilly weather.

The city of lights witnessed heavy rainfall over the weekend which has further lowered temperatures throughout the city. With schools opening up for the new term on the 4th of January the Private Schools Management Association (PSMA) has now demanded an increase in the winter vacations as attendance in schools have been low due to the cold weather.

With previous requests being unanswered, the PSMA believes that parents will now start protesting if no action is taken to extend the winter vacations. PSMA chairperson, Sharafuz Zaman also mentioned that due to the piles of garbage and choked sewage lines, many students are getting ill and would not be able to attend schools.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has announced that this cold wave is going to continue up to Wednesday, while torrential rain with heavy snowfall is expected to continue in Balochistan and a few places in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu, and Kashmir and FATA.

Pakistan Tehreek E Insaaf, MPA Khurram Sher Zaman has also moved a resolution in the Sindh Assembly to announce school holidays due to the weather. He demanded the education minister to take immediate action and give holidays for winter vacation for at least 10 more days to 2 weeks.
