‘Jurassic World’ is now the holder of the biggest box office movie opening record in movie history. It beat ‘The Avengers’ released in 2012, the previous holder of said record.

It was initially estimated by Universal, the studio associated with ‘Jurassic World’, that the movie would open to $204.6 million. However, the movie has exceeded all expectations.

After tallying the numbers, Jurassic World has topped the list of highest-grossing box office openings with a $208.8 million U.S. Debut. The movie surpassed the gross box office opening record of the ‘Avengers’, a U.S. Debut of $207.4 million.

Additionally, the movie has also surpassed international records, with an overseas opening of $315.6 million worldwide. This record beats that of ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2’, which had an international launch with $314 million.

At a global level, it is the first movie to go over $500 million in one weekend. With an unbelievable $524.1 million, it has accumulated the biggest global box office weekend in cinema history.
