Crescentrating Pte Ltd, Singapore’s leading firm specializing in Halal travels for Muslims, launched an app Crescent Trips back in 2013 to help Muslim travelers track and locate their position, along the flight path, to be able to offer prayers on time and in the right Qibla direction.

Back then the Crescentrating’s COO saw Muslim travelers as one of the biggest untapped industry and saw a huge potential for such apps.

The idea has now been improvised to relaunch the app as HalalTrip, which enables users not only to set prayer times during flight using In-Flight Prayer Time Calculator but also, find Halal restaurants in nearby areas.

The feature Halal Food Spotter not only allows users to find Halal restaurants near them but also allows them to upload pictures and comments of any halal food that they spot on their way.

There is also a feature for Travel Duas and features for booking a hotel from the HalalTrip mobile app will be available soon too.

In the past three months, the app has had over 50 restaurants rated and reviewed in countries including Taiwan, Japan, Vietnam, Peru and Austria. The CEO of the HalalTrip was quoted saying, “Halal food is one of the biggest drivers of tourism for the Muslim market. When travelling, one of the main concerns of Muslims is halal food. What we did is to bring in a social media element into discovering halal food and making it more fun and more intuitive.”

HalalTrip is available for free on both iPhones and Android devices.

Other Muslim-friendly travel apps include Irhal Muslim Travel City Guide, Deenwise, Muslim Directory, Halal Food App and Halal Food Finder. However, all of these apps are limited to certain cities or countries and have limited features with mixed reviews.
