After invading the world’s largest market share in white goods, Haier has now raised its curtains for its newly launched smartphone, Haier Esteem i70. Available in the combination of white and silver colors, Esteem i70 is amongst one of the 15 smartphone models that the company launched in its first phase.
Unlike any of the existing brands competing in the market, Haier is offering free coverage of repairing or replacement in case of any accidental losses or theft. Moreover, Haier smartphones are offering free personal accident insurance which provides indemnity of PKR 20,000 in the event of accidental deae other unique specs and features that Esteem has to offer.
Priced at PKR 20,000 this smartphone features some unique specs and functions which are worth taking notice of.
Hardware & Design
Rushed steel banding sandwiched between the screen and white rear made of plastic, the hardware is perfect to set high priced and delicate impression. The phone offers captive screen enabling quick and smooth response to touch.
The HD LCD screen is 5-inch having 1280×720-pixel density.
The notification light on the other side of the earpiece contains proximity sensors. It detects the position of the ear with respect to the screen and turns off the light of the screen to save battery, stops accidental touch and unwanted input during talk time. In addition to these, three traditional capacity buttons are positioned below the display providing backlight support.
Interestingly, the rear cover is fixed and the battery is non-removable.
Software and User Interface
Displayed on Android 4.4 (KitKat), Esteem i70 gives the option to add folders to the home screen enabling users to add up to 7 home screens.
In the drop-down notification bar, you can find toggles for Battery, Settings, WiFi, Bluetooth, Location, Airplane mode, Data connection, Torch, Audio profiles, Brightness, Auto rotation and Cast screen.
It provides a perfect solution for instant snaps taking with rear and front cameras or listening to your favorite music track without leaving the home screen. In addition to total 7 home screens catering photographic and music needs, it offers two additional home screens which can also be easily disabled through desktop settings.
Notable Apps
The pre-installed apps include utility apps like Calculator, Clock, Email, Gallery, File Manager and Voice Recorder. Moreover, it also includes Google Apps consisting of the Chrome browser and Google Drive etc. Most importantly, there are several socializing apps like Facebook, Twitter, Skype, Viber, WhatsApp and WeChat.
The already installed DTS Studio Sound app enables the users to adjust the speaker performance, according to music, movie or gaming.
Now comes the most interesting part! If controlling many electrical appliances all at once bothers you then through Haier Esteem i70’s ZazaRemote you can transform your phone into a universal infrared remote and control your electronic appliances whether it be TV, AC, fan, SLR, projector and DVD etc. belonging to ANY company. Wireless Connectivity
The device is 3G compatible. In addition to WiFi and Bluetooth, the connectivity options include HotKnot technology which provides easier and faster way of transferring data which does not require NFC chips or antennas to work.

This new feature allows users to access various options by providing shortcuts while the phone is in deep sleep mode.

The device is equally friendly for blind and low-vision users who can use ‘TalkBack’ option which will provide spoken feedback by describing what you have touched, selected and activated.
