KU-females-win-gold-medals

The University of Karachi (KU) carried out the 26th Convocation on Saturday evening at University’s ‘Valika Cricket Stadium’. The ceremony was attended by more than 1,866 students of which 238 won gold medals; 80% gold medals were awarded to the female students.

According to the KU registrar Prof Dr. Moazzam Ali Khan, 238 students achieved gold medals on the completion of their graduation studies.

A special gold medal titled as ‘Shuhada-e-Peshawar medal’ was awarded to Quratulain Hyder of the mathematics department who achieved the highest score.

On the other hand, the chief guest at the event, Education Minister and KU pro-chancellor Nisar Ahmed Khuhro said that “Students graduating today are the leaders of tomorrow, and they have a great responsibility on their shoulders to work for the prosperity of their nation.”

KU Vice Chancellor, Dr. Muhammad Qaisar, while speaking at the convocation ceremony noted that 486 research papers of their faculty members are published in world renowned journals.

Khuro also added that he is pleased to be a part of this university; he mentioned that he had completed his own studies from the same university and has seen the educational institution thrive and prosper.

During the convocation, 163 students of BA (Honors) received their degrees, eight of BE, 11 of BLIS, 133 of BS, two of BPA, 20 of BBA (Honors), 179 of BSC (Honors), 312 of MA, 42 of MBA, 35 of MCom, 22 of MCS, five of MLIS, eight of MPA, 289 of MSc, 84 of PharmD and 145 of PhD, among others.

Sindh Governor Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad, also the Vice Chancellor of the university did not attend the convocation. This is chancellor’s 8th consecutive convocation that he has missed.
