2016 has been an interesting turnover for the Pakistani automotive industry. Not only did the new and revised Auto Policy open doors to foreign investors like Volkswagen and Renault, but the local market itself has been introducing new vehicles to the consumers.
Dewan Motors have introduced a crossover, BMW X1, to the automotive enthusiasts. In the recent days, the demand for crossovers have increased, an example is Honda Vezel. Crossovers are popular because they are the mix of passenger cars with hatchback platforms, with increased ground clearance, accompanying bigger wheels and overall they give off a look of a compact SUV. Asides Vezel, other crossovers have made it big in the country, including Honda HR-V and Nissan Juke.
The price Dewan Motors have set for the second-gen vehicle is PKR 3,990,000. The price is because of the jam-packed features the crossover boasts, including a BMW AG 1.5L Turbocharged DOHC I-3 engine offering torque at 134 @ 4,500-6,000 rpm.
It also sports aluminum block material, with a specific output of 89 hp/L, with a 15 Mini Cooper Hardtop, and EPA city of 20/40 mpg. The award-winning engine offers high-end features like other models of BMW, with a higher price, have to offer.
French Automakers Renault & Peugeot to Invest in Pakistani Automotive Industry
According to one of the company officials, “We have received an overwhelming response when we launched this car at our Karachi Showroom and we are now planning to have these cars delivered at our other showrooms.”
The BMW X1 is 4439 mm in length, its width is 1821 mm, and 1612 mm in length, whereas the wheelbase, is 2670 mm. It has a ground clearance of 183 mm and is expected to have the single option of FWD variant in Pakistan, due to lower engine capacity and the amount of high taxes on vehicles which have 1500+cc engine capacity.
The BMW X1 is a Sports Activity Vehicle, which can carry up to 5 passengers, including the driver. It also has a roomy interior and is offered in several different packages, offering several Hi-tech features. It also accompanies many features like Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), and an aluminum body with high-grade steel, boasting an intelligent chassis design.
From the exterior, the BMW X1 looks like a sporty and roomy vehicle, the front is gorgeous, sporting 17′ Light Alloy Wheels V-Spoke Style 560, with fog lights, rain sensor, rear screen wiper, and more.
