3…2…1… Fire in the hole! Remember the time you stayed up till 3 even 4am trying to kill your enemies, running, and jumping, hiding and exploding bombs?

Counter-Strike has been one of the most popular games amongst the early Millennials! It became our saviour when the internet refused to work or when we didn’t have enough money to buy a cool gaming console.

However, there comes a day when even heroes are laid to rest, the last CS 1.6 was also shut-down, thus the end of the epic Counter-Strike era shadowed upon all young and old gamers across the world.

Marking 14 years of memories and giving us unforgettable nights, Entertainment Association League (ESEA) announced that the partnership between ESEA and Counter Strike 1.6 is now over, thus the closing of the last server.

“In 2014 we officially shut down all CS:S servers, and today we do the same for Counter-Strike 1.6,”  statement by ESEA

“For many of us Counter-Strike 1.6 has played a large role in our life, from being the basis of lifetime friendships to developing e-sports legends that many of us still look up to today. It ultimately is what allowed ESEA to be what it is today. “

Even though Counter Strike 1,6 will be missed, this does not mean that ESEA is done with the Counter-Strike franchise for good. E-Sports Association is still going strong with the latest title in the CS franchise, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

What are your favourite memories of the game?
