Seemingly, desi fashion trends have taken over the global glamour and fashion sphere by storm! From the classy Peshaweri Chappals replicated by Paul Smith to the Desi khusas turned ballerina flats by Aldo, the Eastern cuts adopted by Zaras to the chic Shalwar Kameez menswear by Versace; it seems that the “Firangi designers” have become obsessed with the mish-mash of east and west in their work.

But it is the recent “twist of trends” sprouted on a ramp in Berlin that is bound to shock you, for it is our very own Muslim Burqa in which the Westerners have found a sudden fashion inspiration!

However, still steadfast on its believe that veils should be banned for women; the West decided to discover a new trend nobody ever dared to imagine – Burqa for Boys.

This wacky fashion brainwave belonged to the Serbian costume designer of Hunger Games, Sasa Kovacevic who unleashed his collection “Sadak” at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Berlin, earlier this year.

The fashion designer ditched the mundane menswear trends of baggy jeans, golden necklaces, leather jackets, dress pants and embraced an out-of-the-box idea that involved masking men.

Check out the video of Sasa’s brand label Sadak, showcased on the runway.

Clad in icy silky blue, cat-walked a model with his head and face sheathed, paired with baby blue trousers and pink loafers. Ironically the front covering, head-to-toe burka had a bare back!

Another bizarre look was of a man with tattooed arms dressed in an ink-black hooded veil, thick black goggles, heavy loafers and golden chain socks. What’s more, he provided the audience with a subtle hint of his Calvin Klein boxers.

Somewhat adequate seemed this lilac cape with quirky, whimsical pattern and matched with black pants.

The ramp was mostly a blend of hues of blue, purple and bold black along with designs of open long flowing shirts, cloaks, hoodies and shorts.

A graduate of fashion design at Kunsthochschule Weißensee Berlin, Sasa Kovacevic has previously designed for  The Hunger Games Mockingjay part 1, Dazed Digital, NY Times and Italian Vogue.

His inspiration for the “Burqa for Men” have both raised many eyebrows and caused a lot of guffaws. No less than a fashion risk on either side of the world, Sasa has churned out an unorthodox look for guys that is donned by Muslim women all over the world.
