Call me a nit-picker, call me obsessive-compulsive, call me whatever you want. When I find a glaring flaw in something, it buzzes around in my head and blinds me to everything else that may be good about it. Not something to be proud of, and something I am trying very hard to cure. Recently, however, this flaw in my personality reared its ugly head when I saw the Sunlight washing powder TVC starring Shan and Noor.
A very filmy ad, I must say. Boring and done to death concept of husband flirting with wife. Yet one with a classic “what just happened here” moment.
A very annoyed wife (Noor) sits on the floor with her pile of dirty clothes and bar of soap. Husband (Shan) in a romantic mood approaches her, touches her hand lovingly, and takes away the bar of soap. Makes you go, awww, don’t it?
Then, what does he do? He hands her a packet of Sunlight Washing Power. Use this, not that! Seriously! If my husband ever did that to me, I know what I’d do – and it definitely wont be what this lady is doing.
Yes, this ad has a concept, it has a target market, it may fill all the “technical” checkboxes, but for a die-hard romantic and hard-core feminist like me this ad has just become an epic fail right here.

i dont see how any of this provides logical reasoning for the ad being a ‘fail’. All of the above is your own personal opinion and doesn’t really say much about your professional experience!
@Anonymous …seems you were the mastermind behind the concept or you have some linkages with them
*sniff* *sniff*
thats probably what the marketers at Sunlight wanted; Surf users (or atleast Surf TG) rejecting Sunlight. Wouldn’t be a very good ad if it started appealing to everyone, especially those that its expressly not supposed to appeal to.
