Beijing, China has been announced as the host country for the Winter Olympics 2022, after narrowly beating the potential contender Almaty, Kazakhstan.

The result was announced on Friday with a very close vote win of  44-40. Initially, the voting conducted by the electronic tablet was not deemed reliable and was done again via written ballots.

While previously there has been no nation who got the honor of hosting both summer and winter Olympics, Beijing becomes the first country ever to organize both the Olympic editions.

“It is a safe choice”, said the president of International Olympic Society, Thomas Bach. “We know that China will deliver on its promises”.

Despite Beijing being not a winter city, the ever growing technology will tend to facilitate the nature-like snow. China’s capital organized the 2008 Summer Olympics well enough that it got voted as the favorite spot yet again, regardless of no  snowfall in the city.

It is reported that Beijing plans to use a few same venues that it used for the 2008 summer Olympics, one being the Bird’s Nest and the other Water Cube arena.

Apparently, Olympics will be now held in East Asia thrice in a row; the 2018 Winter Games in Pyeongchang, the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo and finally the 2022 Olympics to be held in Beijing.

Beijing appears quite confident that it will make possible another well organized, memorable and successful event in the history of Olympics.
