Despite reviving the local film industry and garnering international acclaim, many Pakistani movies are not available for screening in local cinemas. “Local cinemas have been waiting for the screening of local movies, but no movie has been released since two months,” cinema owners lamented.

More than 10 Pakistani films have been completed during the past few months but have not been released in the cinemas. Hotal, Revenge of the Worthless and Koi Goli Na Marey are some of the movies upheld from screening in local cinemas.

Revenge of the Worthless

Notable Pakistani flicks were released on Eid-ul-Azha, but they were not showcased in the cinemas.

The reason for this strange behavior is not clear, but local filmmakers hesitate to run their movies in cinemas.

Cinemas owners added that the resistance to release local movies has boosted the business of Indian movies which have been shown increasingly in the absence of local content.
