1. Project Ghazi
Pakistan’s first superhero film, Project Ghazi stars the talented, Sheheryar Munawar, Syra Shehroz, and Humayun Saeed. This action movie, directed by Nadir Shah, will delve into other themes revolving around love, loss, and patriotism.
This highly anticipated movie will open up opportunities for Pakistani filmmakers to produce more superhero-affiliated films.
2. Chalay Thay Saath
Chalay Thay Saath is based on the life of a young doctor named Reshma, played by Syra Shehroz who is on a fun-filled trip with her friends. It also features the talented international filmmaker and actor, Kent S Leung. The hero will be playing Syra’s love interest in the film.
This romantic comedy, directed by Umer Adil, will focus more on family values, love, and friendship and is filmed all around Pakistan, including Hunza’s gorgeous landscapes.
3. Verna
Shoaib Mansoor is ready to bring another blockbuster to the big screen, slated to be released on Eid-ul-Fitr in 2017. The movie will be produced in collaboration with the leading film distributor of Pakistan, HUM films. This film will star the incredibly gifted Mahira Khan as the lead. The story will shed light on many topics such as women rights.
Shoaib Mansoor will be changing the mindset of Pakistani men with his ground-breaking venture.
4. Maula Jatt 2
Sequel to the 1979 cult-classic, Maula Jatt 2 will feature the heartthrobs Fawad Khan and Hamza Ali Abbasi in the lead roles. The supporting cast also boasts powerful stars like Sanam Jung, Shamoon Abbasi, and Adnan Jaffer.
With this movie, director Bilal Lashari hopes to revive the Gandasa genre of Lollywood. The film will be dubbed in three languages; English, Urdu, and Punjabi.
5. Albela Rahi
Recreating the life of one of the pioneers of Urdu pop music- Alamgir, ‘Albela Rahi’ will feature Fawad Khan and will be released next year. Paying tribute to this Pakistani icon, it will show how the Pakistani music scene of the 60s and 70s was completely different than to what it is today.
It aims to shed light on Alamgir’s rise to fame and is even named after one of his most famous tracks. We’re extremely excited to watch Fawad Khan execute this role and show off his acting chops!
6.Balu Mahi
This upcoming romantic comedy, Balu Mahi is directed by Haissam Hussain and stars Osman Khalid Butt and Ainy Jaffri. The movie is all set for a stellar release on February 10th, 2017. The movie will definitely be mesmerizing as some scenes are being filmed in various locations of Nothern Pakistan. The music extraordinaire, Sahir Ali Bagga has composed five songs for the movie.
Some scenes of the movie seem as though they have taken inspiration from classic fairy tales and even include many dance sequences.
7. Jhol
Recently renamed from ‘Two+Two’ to ‘Jhol’; the rom-com features the starlet Urwa Hocane, and the very talented Ali Azmat, Bilal Ashraf, Ayesha Omar and many other big-wigs of Pakistan’s film industry. This much-awaited flick, directed by Shahid Shafaat, is said to be the perfect blend of action and comedy.
8. Arth 2
The highly anticipated romantic comedy and blockbuster-in-the-making, Arth 2 is directed by the genius, Shaan Shahid.
Produced by AAA Motion Pictures, HKC Entertainment, and 5th Element, Arth 2 is the much-hyped remake of Bollywood classic Arth with the talented cast including Shaan Shahid, Humayun Saeed, Humaima Malick and Uzma Hassan.
9. Parwaaz Hai Junoon
Haseeb Hassan wrote Hum Film’s Parwaaz Hai Junoon to pay tribute to Pakistan Air Force. This is the first venture of its kind since the last airforce movie was released almost fifty years ago. Starring Osman Khalid Butt and Hamza Ali Abbasi, the movie will hit the theaters on Eid ul Azha 2017.
The plot is based on real-life events approved by the PAF. Scenes will be shot in the CASA aircraft and both the male leads will be seen as gallant Pakistani airforce pilots.
10. Zarrar
The action-thriller, Zarrar is directed and written by the veteran Shaan Shahid. The talented cast includes Nadeem Baig, Kiran Malik, Adnan Butt, Nayyer Ejaz and Shaan, himself.
Working on several other projects as well, this seems to be one of his much-awaited movies of Shaan Shahid. In collaboration with Timothy Hallam Wood, this is one movie we are definitely looking forward to!
